Are you worried that your child is slower than other children in learning to sit up, crawl or walk? You may think that your child is clumsy or they may struggle to keep up with other children. Perhaps they avoid physical activity. Feel free to talk to Beth about your concerns.
Physiotherapy treatment sessions
Beth meets new patients in an initial assessment session which can take place at The Orchard Clinic in St Albans, at your home or at your child’s school. During this assessment, which usually takes up to one hour, she will discuss your concerns in detail and then assess their abilities. She will look at how they move and play and assess how their nervous and musculoskeletal systems work.
From an initial assessment, Beth will then build a tailor-made treatment programme that focuses on the needs of your child and your family. Treatment will depend on your child’s abilities and how well they respond to their programme. It may include information and education about normal development, exercises or handling therapies, play activities, home exercises, advice to school or other carers and liaison with other health professionals.
If you think that your child would benefit from physiotherapy, in general, the sooner treatment starts, the better. Most conditions are best assessed and treated quickly and early intervention can serve to reduce the impact of any challenges that your child may be experiencing.
Bookings & referrals
Book your physiotherapy sessions directly with Beth or you can ask for a referral from a GP or Consultant – some health insurance companies require you to be referred by your GP. Health visitors, teachers and other professionals can also make referrals for physiotherapy. Beth can also work alongside NHS physiotherapists on your behalf.
